A new year brings new trends, and we are really excited about what we’ve seen so far in 2022! From bold colors to old world marbles, here are some of favorite new natural stone design trends.

Marble, of course, will always be a classic and timeless choice, and people are continuing to choose it time and time again. A new trend in marble is to choose an old world, antique aesthetic. With colors like Calacatta Viola, Les Quattres Saisons, Fior de Pesco, and Breccia Capraia, this look includes dramatic veining and rust and gold tones that enrich the antique design.

We are also seeing a movement towards jewel tones. Rich greens, deep navy, and eggplant are all seen within this design. From dramatic paint colors and accessories to the quartzites and marbles that have those undertones, jewel tones can really bring a mood to this design aesthetic. We are also finally starting to see a departure from the stark white and gray that has been so popular in recent years. Milky whites, creams, taupe, and even gold are being welcomed back into our kitchens and bathrooms.

Mixed metals within the backsplash have been popular for a while now. This year, we expect to see some pops of terrazzo mixed in with the natural stone and metal. Terrazzo is a great complement to natural stone, and we expect to see a lot more of it in designs this year. Pattern on pattern is also something we have seen more of recently; florals and plaid stone mosaics paired with block print wallpaper and fabrics achieve this look.

In 2022, bigger is better! Oversized designs are quickly becoming the norm. From giant islands to sinks you could take a dip in, we love this trend. With giant light fixtures to compliment large format flooring (think 60×60 tile), and faucets and fixtures that look like jewelry, we don’t expect this trend to go away anytime soon.

People are becoming more adventurous with their designs in 2022, and we admire that. Remember: regardless of your style, natural stone is a perfect complement to your design. This timeless material transcends design trends and will keep your home looking beautiful for years to come.
