Mr. Daniel Panidis, Renewable Energy Sources (RES) Officer in “Pavlidis Marbles S.A.” speaks about the 16 million euros investment of the company, with a capacity up to 12

It is not just hot air but it is all about the first Wind Park investment in Xanthi, Greece. After 7 years of bureaucratic procedures the required permission was given and the construction has begun by laying down the concrete foundations where the wind turbines are going to be installed.

The wind park is an investment of “Pavlidis Marbles S.A.” company, located in Drama, Greece. Mr. Daniel Panidis, RES Officer of the company, recently stated that the project has a capacity of 12 MW in total and it will consist of two separated wind farms of 6 MW capacity each. The investment’s cost is about 16 million euros. Mr. Panidis also added that “Pavlidis Marbles S.A.”, although being mainly a marble manufacturer, during the last years has expanded their activity into the RES sector, launching a new Wind Farm in Sidirokastro village in Serres, Greece and now in Xanthi. Moreover, the project involves a 16 km underground network structure to convert wind power into electrical energy and transmit it to the accumulators where the power gets channeled and then transmitted as electricity around the country. It is worth saying that according to E.U. regulations, Greece must replace 30% of the energy used with RES energy until 2030, keeping its rating today in just 17%.
