Did the exports of the largest marble supplier in the world decrease or increase in the first three months of 2021?

With exports exceeding $ 1.6 billion in 2020, Turkey was and remains the largest exporter of marble in the world. Despite the unprecedented crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdowns, Turkey managed to contain the decline in 2020 and returns recording a large increase in exports between the first quarters of 2020 – 2021. In the table below we see the changes (%) in value and the quantity of Turkish marble exports between A three months of 2020 – 2021 and between the last three months of 2020  and the first of 2021:

In the table we observe the large increase in exports between the first trimester of 2020 – 2021 due to the increase in exports to China, the USA, Iraq and France. The sharp drop in exports to Saudi Arabia due to the unofficial boycott was offset and did not significantly affect Turkey’s total marble exports.

The Fourth trimester of 2020 was the trimester with the highest exports for Turkey, so the decline we see in the Table between Fourth trimester 2020 and the first trimester of 2021 was expected.

In the first trimester of 2021, Turkey exported marble products with a total value of over 420 million dollars to 136 countries.
