In 2024, Turkey’s natural stone sector demonstrated resilience amid global market shifts, maintaining stable export levels. The industry reported total exports worth USD 1.93 billion, experiencing only a slight dip of 3.59% in quantity and a marginal 0.20% decrease in value compared to the previous year.

A notable highlight of the year was the surge in exports to the United States, which became Turkey’s top destination market for natural stone. U.S. imports reached USD 432.13 million—an impressive 11.22% increase—surpassing China for the first time. China, traditionally a dominant market, saw its imports drop by 9.99% to USD 389.38 million. India followed in third place with imports totaling USD 145.25 million, marking a decline of 8.79%.

The rest of the top ten destination markets—Saudi Arabia, Iraq, France, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Libya, and Germany—generally recorded positive growth. The only exception was Iraq, which experienced a minor contraction of 0.74%.

On the pricing front, the average price per ton of Turkish natural stone stood at USD 319.06 in 2024, reflecting a modest year-over-year increase of 3.9%. When compared globally, Turkey remained competitively priced, with Portugal averaging USD 288.87 per ton, Brazil at USD 613.38 per ton, and Italy leading with a premium average of USD 1,095.80 per ton.

Despite a slight decrease in volume and value, Turkey’s ability to maintain strong market presence—particularly in the U.S.—highlights the sector’s adaptability and ongoing global appeal.
