Brazil’s granite and marble exports in 2021

Brazil is the second-largest exporter of granite in the world. Despite marble exports being lower than granite exports, they rank Brazil in the top ten largest suppliers internationally.

Brazil’s marble exports in 2021 set a five-year record. Granite exports were up in 2019 and 2020 but still far from 2017 levels. Between 2020 and 2021, marble exports recorded higher growth than granite exports:

The record high in marble exports is due to a rise in exports of both marble blocks and slabs and finished marble. For granite, the increase is mainly due to the finished granite exports increasing.

Worth noting is that the average prices per tonne of marble and granite blocks and slabs showed a higher increase than that of finished marble.

In 2021, the main destinations of Brazilian granites were, in order, the United States, China, Mexico, Italy and Taiwan. In marble, the main destinations were the U.S., China, and Italy.
