Twelve Italian firms specialized in technologies to craft marble are visiting Cairo on Wednesday and Thursday, sources in the Egyptian capital report.
The mission, organized by the Cairo office of ICE foreign trade agency, in cooperation with Confindustria Marmomacchine, with the participation of Ilpa, Tenax, Marini, Biesse-Intermac, Dellas, Officine Marchetti, Pedrini, Breton, Steinex, Tecnoporro, Omag and Teksped.
Technical sessions by companies Isim-Istituto Internazionale del Marmo will be carried out in the industrial marble district of Shak El Toaban.
On Thursday, a technical forum will be followed by business meetings with the main Egyptian firms operating in the sector.
The event takes place in cooperation with Egyptian partners of the Chamber of industry for construction materials (the Egyptian employers’ association) and Imc – Industrial Modernisation Center, and agency of the Egyptian ministry for trade and industry.
Egypt is among the main markets for Italian-made marble technology and a growing market for Italian exports, according to data released by Italian statistics agency Istat, elaborated by Confindustria Marmomacchine. In 2016 Egypt ranked 21st as a market for Italian exports in the sector (with 16.9 million euros in exports of machinery).
One year later, Egypt ranked sixth with 57.9 million.
Data on the first eight months of this year are even more significant at 63.4 million euros, bringing Egypt to second place among countries buying machines and tools to work ornamental stones, only preceded by the US.
