Stonegal, the international natural stone fair set to debut from June 3 to 5 at the Vigo Exhibition Center (IFEVI), is solidifying its position as a key event for the industry with the announcement of new strategic partnerships that combine institutional strength, cultural identity, and industrial innovation.

The latest agreements with the Granite Cluster, the Confederation of Employers of Pontevedra (CEP), and the Municipality of O Porriño highlight a unified effort to promote Galicia’s natural stone sector, enhance its global competitiveness, and showcase its legacy and future through collaborative actions.

A shaped vision: Industry, instututions, and territory united

Stonegal, CEP, and the Granite Cluster have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at boosting business opportunities, reinforcing Galicia’s international visibility, and integrating the local industrial fabric into the global conversation.

“Stonegal was created to be more than just a trade fair — it’s a platform for connection and growth across the entire natural stone ecosystem. Welcoming CEP as a strategic ally is a major step toward achieving that ambition,” said Alejandro Miras, Director of Stonegal.

The Granite Cluster, representing the leading extraction and processing companies in the region, emphasized the significance of public-private cooperation to strengthen competitiveness.

“Together, we share the vision of positioning Galicia as an international hub for innovation, design, and natural stone production. Having CEP on board allows us to build strategic bridges across sectors,” noted José Ángel Lorenzo, Secretary General of the Granite Cluster.

From CEP’s perspective, the collaboration reflects the deep-rooted importance of the stone industry in the local economy.

“Natural stone is part of our province’s economic DNA. Our role in Stonegal goes beyond supporting a trade fair — we’re investing in a platform that energizes our business ecosystem,” affirmed Jorge Cebreiros, President of CEP.

O Porriño joins Stonegal: Celebrating stone in its most authentic setting

As a key addition to the initiative, the Municipality of O Porriño — recognized as the historic heart of Galician granite — has joined the Stonegal project through a partnership that brings cultural and symbolic weight to the event.

A highlight of this collaboration will be the Stone Gala, to be held on June 4 at 9:00 PM in a quarry in O Porriño, offering an unforgettable evening that brings natural stone to life in its most iconic setting. The event will host 150–300 professionals, including architects, industry leaders, and public officials.

During the gala, the Stonegal Awards will be presented, and for the first time, the Antonio Palacios Award for Architecture and Stone will be awarded — honoring the intersection of architectural vision and material legacy.

“O Porriño is the cradle of granite and a benchmark in the stone industry. This partnership is an exceptional opportunity to showcase our geological wealth, industrial base, and cultural connection to stone,” stated Mayor Alejandro Lorenzo.

“Celebrating the Stone Gala in O Porriño is a tribute to the municipality’s vital role in the natural stone sector,” added Alejandro Miras.

From quarry to construction: Technical visits with purpose

The Stone Summit technical visits will offer a hands-on journey through the value chain of natural stone — from extraction to its architectural application. These tours include:

  • Quarry visits in O Porriño and Salvaterra, known for their premium granite.

  • First-hand insight into extraction, selection, and sustainability practices.

  • Visits to processing plants, where cutting-edge techniques transform raw stone into finished materials for international markets.

  • Explorations of iconic buildings in Vigo where natural stone shines in restoration, contemporary design, and sustainable urban architecture.

These visits aim to provide attendees with a strategic and technical understanding of the sector, demonstrating the excellence and global potential of Galician stone.

Galicia at the forefront of natural stone

Stonegal 2025 is shaping up to be more than an exhibition — it is a regional movement bringing together institutions, businesses, and communities under a common banner: to position Galicia as a European epicenter of natural stone innovation, culture, and industry.

Through high-level partnerships, exclusive events, and immersive experiences, Stonegal is laying the foundation for a new chapter in the international story of natural stone.
