For the second consecutive year, Volvo Trucks has maintained its leading position in the European heavy-duty truck market, achieving a total market share of 19.0%.
In 2025, Volvo Trucks was the market leader in the European heavy-duty truck segment (16 tonnes and above), recording a market share of 19.0%, up from 17.9% in 2024. The long-haul Volvo FH Aero has won the hearts of many European transport operators. Thanks to improved aerodynamics and new technologies, such as Volvo’s digital mirrors, the Volvo FH Aero delivers up to 7% better fuel efficiency compared to the Volvo FH it replaced. In total, nearly 33,000 FH Aero trucks were ordered in Europe in 2025.
“We are extremely proud to be the market leader in Europe for the second consecutive year. Our goal is to be the best business partner for our customers, and our leading position is strong proof of the trust they place in us. We are very proud and would like to extend a big thank you to both our customers and our employees for this great achievement,” says Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks.
“We offer a strong and competitive product range with trucks that deliver maximum uptime, top fuel efficiency, and safety. The FH Aero is our shining star for long-haul operations. Our customers tell us they experience outstanding performance and significant fuel savings with the Aero.”
Leading Position in 30 Countries
Globally, in 2025, Volvo Trucks is either the market leader or the second-largest brand in 30 countries.
Towards Fossil-Free Transport
Volvo Trucks is leading the transition towards fossil-free transport, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 through a three-pronged technological strategy. This approach is based on battery-electric trucks, fuel cell electric trucks, and internal combustion engines running on renewable fuels such as green hydrogen, biogas, biodiesel, or HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil).
“We will continue to innovate and introduce new trucks that contribute not only to our customers’ business growth but also to the decarbonization of our industry. By investing in multiple technologies, we can offer transport solutions that meet different customer and market needs,” says Roger Alm.
The term “Europe” includes the European Union, as well as the United Kingdom, Norway, and Switzerland (EU30).
