Volvo Trucks has delivered more than 5,000 electric trucks across 50 countries worldwide. With eight electric truck models currently in production, Volvo’s leadership in electric trucking is stronger than ever.

Volvo Trucks’ electric vehicles have been available since 2019, and since then, customers in 50 countries have transitioned to electric transport, collectively covering nearly 170 million kilometers in commercial operations. These trucks have contributed to reducing CO₂ emissions and noise levels on the roads while also improving the working environment for drivers.

“It’s gratifying to see that transport companies continue to recognize the benefits of electric trucks across a wide range of operations,” says Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks. “Volvo’s electric trucks are already available, providing customers and industry partners with a more sustainable alternative. In fact, many of our customers are returning to further expand their electric fleets.”

Volvo’s current range of electric trucks is designed to meet the needs of urban and regional distribution, as well as construction and waste management sectors. Volvo’s top five markets for electric trucks are Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, Norway, and Sweden.

Expertise in Electromobility
Volvo’s early entry into the electric truck segment has enabled the company to develop unique expertise in zero-exhaust-emission transport. The benefits of electric trucks go beyond environmental advantages – drivers experience a significantly better working environment with much lower noise and vibration levels. Volvo has also built strong competence in energy usage optimization, financing, charging, and servicing of electric trucks.

These are the Volvo electric truck models currently available:

  • Volvo FL Electric

  • Volvo FE Electric

  • Volvo FM Electric

  • Volvo FM Low Entry

  • Volvo FMX Electric

  • Volvo FH Electric (International Truck of the Year 2024)

Volvo Trucks’ Three-Pronged Technology Approach to Zero Emissions

Volvo Trucks is leading the decarbonization of transport with a goal to reach net-zero emissions by 2040. This strategy is based on three technological pathways: battery electric vehicles, fuel cell electric vehicles, and internal combustion engines powered by renewable fuels such as green hydrogen (produced via water electrolysis using renewable electricity), bio-LNG (biogas), biodiesel, and HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil).
