What was the course of Germany’s marble and granite imports in the first ten months of 2020?
Germany, despite declining imports of finished marble and granite over the last ten years, is one of the most important and powerful markets in the world. Eurostat statistics confirm the strength of the German market since amid a pandemic and lockdowns, imports fell relatively low. Specifically, between the first ten months of 2019 – 2020, a decrease was recorded in the value of imports of finished marble -7.63% while in granite -7.10%.
In the Table below we see changes in the imports of finished marble and granite of Germany between the first ten months of 2019 – 2020.
In the Table we observe the different course of imports between marble and granite, taking into account that Germany imports mainly granite and much less marble. The month with the highest value of imports for marble and granite was July. The month with the lowest imports of marble was January while the month of granite was April.
Among Germany’s main suppliers of finished granite, the value of imports from China fell by -9.68%, Italy by -8.63% and India by -10.5%.
Imports from Turkey increased by + 24.07% among the main suppliers of finished marble. On the contrary, imports from Italy fell -29%.
