Italy’s marble products exports growth: 1st Quarter 2020

Following our previous report on Italy’s marble products exports growth in January 2020, Stonenews.eu, after collecting, studying and editing the statistical data provided by Eurostat, is presenting Italy’s marble products exports growth during the 1st quarter of 2020, compared with last year’s same quarter as well as exactly the previous quarter in 2019, both in value and quantity of exports.

Italy’s marble blocks and slabs exports during the first three months of 2020 showed a significant decrease in comparison with last year’s same quarter, both in value and quantity of exports. The decline in marble blocks and slabs exports was even bigger when the comparison was made with the last quarter of 2019, i.e. just the previous three-month period.

As for finished marble products exports, Italy managed to keep the decrease in low levels in the first quarter of 2020 compared with the first quarter of 2019. The export growth line moved further down when the export growth was compared with the last quarter of 2019, showing an overall gradual downward trend as the COVID-19 was spreading around the world.

Although marble products exports showed negative growth during the 1st quarter of 2020, it is really worth mentioning that at this period of time Italy managed to export marble blocks and slabs of € 60.77 million worth and finished marble products of € 183.46 million worth.
