During the 2024 edition of Marmomac, Confindustria Marmomacchine solidified its international relations through key meetings.

During the event, an important inter-association meeting took place between Confindustria Marmomacchine, the leading sector association for Italy’s stone industry, and FAMMIP, its Algerian counterpart. This meeting offered both associations the opportunity to discuss the current state of relations between Italy and Algeria in the marble sector and to exchange updates on the ongoing project to establish a Technology Center in Algiers. This center, born from bilateral agreements between the ministries of both countries, represents a significant step forward in strengthening commercial and technological ties within the sector.

According to the latest data from Confindustria Marmomacchine’s Research Center, Algeria continues to rank among the top 20 importers of Italian technology for the stone industry. This position reflects a strong commercial relationship and a mutual interest in developing advanced, high-quality technological projects.

In line with its commitment to international expansion and sectoral relationship consolidation, Confindustria Marmomacchine also signed a new memorandum of understanding during Marmomac 2024 with the IRAN STONE ASSOCIATION, an influential Iranian organization based in Tehran. This agreement aims to establish a consistent flow of information between the two organizations, supporting industry relations between Italy and Iran. Despite the complexities of the sanctions affecting trade with Iran, the Middle Eastern country remains highly interesting for Italian companies, remembering that, in the early 2000s, it was the leading global buyer of Italian stone technology.

These agreements underscore Confindustria Marmomacchine’s dedication to enhancing international partnerships and supporting the Italian stone sector as it expands into new, high-potential markets.
