For the first time in its five-decade history, Marmomac, the world’s premier trade fair for the natural stone industry, is expanding beyond Europe. Scheduled to take place from February 18 to 20, 2025, at the Anhembi Exhibition Pavilion in São Paulo, Brazil, this landmark event highlights the country’s pivotal role in the global natural stone market.

Brazil: A Global Powerhouse in Natural Stone

As the fourth-largest producer and fifth-largest exporter of natural stones, Brazil supplies over 120 countries. According to Tales Machado, President of the Brazilian Natural Stone Association (Centrorochas), this event is an opportunity to showcase not only Brazil’s production capabilities but also its innovation and design prowess. “It’s time to demonstrate that Brazil goes beyond raw production to lead in creativity and sustainability,” Machado stated.

The Marmomac Brazil exhibition will span 14,000 square meters, featuring approximately 200 exhibiting brands and expecting to attract 15,000 visitors from more than 60 countries. Beyond the display of products, the event will offer a robust program of activities, including lectures, business matchmaking, competitions, and experiential showcases. These initiatives aim to engage a diverse audience, from traditional attendees like marble professionals and importers to architects, designers, and construction experts.

A key highlight of the event is the business matchmaking program organized in collaboration with “It’s Natural – Brazil Natural Stone,” an export promotion initiative developed by Centrorochas and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).

A Spotlight on Espírito Santo

In conjunction with Marmomac Brazil, international journalists, architects, and buyers will visit Espírito Santo, the heart of Brazil’s natural stone industry. This region accounts for over 82% of Brazil’s natural stone export value and is home to the country’s largest industrial hub for ornamental stones.

The visit will provide firsthand insights into the local production chain. Participants will tour quarries to observe material extraction, factories to understand advanced processing and sustainability technologies, and showrooms to see how these stones are applied in design. This immersion underscores the theme of the event: “Stones Take the Stage,” aiming to elevate Brazilian natural stones into the global spotlight.

Strategic Expansion and Industry Leadership

Organized by Milanez & Milaneze, a Veronafiere Group company known for events like the Cachoeiro Stone Fair, Marmomac Brazil underscores Brazil’s strategic efforts to strengthen its position in the global natural stone industry. Flávia Milaneze, CEO of Milanez & Milaneze, emphasized that bringing Marmomac to Brazil reflects a broader mission to attract international attention to the country’s vast potential.

“Expanding to São Paulo with a redefined event format marks a pivotal moment for the sector. It solidifies Brazil’s status as a global reference for natural stone production,” Milaneze said.

Economic and Social Impact

The natural stone sector in Espírito Santo is a cornerstone of the local economy, contributing approximately 10% of the state’s GDP. According to Ed Martins, President of the Espírito Santo Union of Ornamental Stone Industries (Sindirochas), the industry generates about 13% of local industrial jobs and employs 30% of the sector’s workforce nationwide.

“Our industry provides 52% of the skilled labor in the natural stone sector across Brazil. Events like Marmomac Brazil will drive further development, adding value not just to the economy but also to society as a whole,” Martins noted.

Looking Ahead

By bringing Marmomac to Brazil, the country’s natural stone industry gains an unparalleled platform to exhibit its excellence, foster international collaborations, and redefine its image as a leader in innovation and sustainability. As the industry prepares for this historic event, Brazil is poised to solidify its reputation as a global hub for natural stone production and design. The stage is set—and the world will be watching.
