The collection explores a spectrum of marble patterns, ranging from the stark contrasts of black and white Calacatta to the subtle elegance of Statuarietto marble
For Fall 2024, Roberto Cavalli took a sharp turn from last season’s ’70s-disco-jungle aesthetic. This time, Creative Director Fausto Puglisi’s inspiration was a bit more grounded — marble, to be exact.
Titled ‘Marbleous’, they are his ‘ode to metamorphosis, with polychrome marbles representing and inspiring a woman’s readiness to transform, evolve and reinterpret herself,’ as per his Instagram.
As such, the marble concept is quite literally referenced throughout the collection’s prints. The garments themselves, meanwhile, juxtapose the firm solidity of marble stone. Puglisi also opted for more of a neutral color palette compared to seasons past, beginning the collection primarily with black and white and later ushering in pops of dark purple, green and yellow as the collection went on.
By integrating the timeless beauty of marble with cutting-edge fashion, Puglisi not only honors the inventive spirit of Roberto Cavalli but also propels it into a new era. This collection signifies the potential of marble as a staple in print design, akin to animal print, suggesting a future where fashion draws even more deeply from the wells of nature and history to create something truly unprecedented.
