With 101 hotel renovation and brand-conversion projects covering 29,658 rooms, the region highlights the importance of engaging buyers early and preparing suppliers for upcoming procurement decisions.

Hotel renovations and sourcing opportunities

Commercial opportunities in the natural stone sector are not limited to new construction. Renovations of existing hotels, as well as changes in hotel branding and management, are also areas worth monitoring for marble and natural stone producers and suppliers.

According to figures presented in the information material for Stone Africa 2026, at the end of the second quarter of 2026 the Middle East recorded 101 hotel renovation and brand-conversion projects, covering a total of 29,658 rooms.

These figures broaden the picture of activity across the region’s hospitality market. However, they do not mean that all these projects involve the replacement of natural stone materials or that procurement procedures have already begun. Each project requires separate assessment, depending on the scope of the renovation and its actual material requirements.

Preparing suppliers before the tender stage

In many cases, the process of selecting materials begins well before a tender is issued or a formal request for quotation is submitted. Initial discussions between buyers, architects, consultants, contractors and suppliers can help shape the available options and define a project’s requirements.

For natural stone businesses, this means that commercial engagement needs to be supported by a clear presentation of available materials, access to samples and technical information, and reliable details regarding production capacity, quantities and delivery schedules.

At the same time, environmental documentation is becoming increasingly relevant in material assessment procedures. One example cited in the Stone Africa material is an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) covering 2 cm natural stone slabs from 15 Italian quarries. This declaration has a specific scope and should not be interpreted as a general environmental certification for all natural stone products.

For suppliers, the ability to provide clear and verifiable documentation can form an important part of product assessment, particularly in projects with specific documentation requirements.

Stone Africa as a platform for business connections

Against this background, Stone Africa 2026 offers a professional platform for companies seeking to expand their business networks and explore commercial opportunities across African and Middle Eastern markets.

The exhibition will take place from 12 to 15 November 2026 at the Cairo International Conference Center, Nasr City, Cairo, Egypt. It brings together producers, suppliers, buyers and other professionals from across the natural stone industry. Its programme also includes a Hosted Buyer Programme and opportunities for scheduled B2B meetings, aiming to facilitate professional networking and the development of business relationships.

For natural stone suppliers, participation can provide an opportunity to present their products, explore the needs of potential buyers and assess new commercial contacts. Buyers, in turn, can compare materials, evaluate the production capabilities of different suppliers and initiate discussions around specific project requirements.

The value of these contacts depends not only on the number of meetings, but also on whether they lead to clearly defined requirements, well-documented quotations and concrete next steps towards potential cooperation.
