Turkish Ambassador to Egypt Salih Mutlu Şen participated in the opening ceremony of the inaugural StoneAfrica exhibition, currently taking place at the Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Center. The event brings together 92 leading companies from around the world specializing in marble and granite, including 30 prominent Turkish firms, underscoring Turkey’s status as home to approximately 42% of the world’s marble reserves.

During his visit, Ambassador Şen toured the booths of the Turkish exhibitors and held discussions with company representatives regarding their current operations in Egypt and future business plans. He noted that for many of these firms, this marked their first participation in an Egyptian trade exhibition, and they expressed strong interest in expanding their activities within the promising Egyptian market.

Turkish marble has earned a distinct reputation in Egypt, where it is frequently imported in cut form for local processing before being sold domestically or re-exported internationally. Renowned for its unique quality — including notably low heat retention — Turkish marble is particularly well-suited to the climates of Egypt and the Gulf region, similar to the cool marble featured in the courtyard of the Grand Mosque in Mecca.

Ambassador Şen highlighted that rising demand, combined with favorable climate conditions, is expected to attract new Turkish investments in marble manufacturing in the near future. He also emphasized Egypt’s strategic role in the global granite industry, positioning the country as a natural partner for further cooperation and investment.
