How were the imports of Ceramic flags and paving, hearth or wall tiles of Greece formed in the last decade?
The imports of Ceramic flags and paving, hearth or wall tiles of Greece in the last decade showed great fluctuations due to the economic crisis that hit the construction activity of the country. However, they gradually returned, reaching pre-crisis levels.
In the Chart that follows we see the course of the value of imports between 2011 – 2020.
In the graph we observe the “sinking” of imports between 2011 – 2013 which recorded a decline in the value of imports -45.15% and a gradual increase until 2019. In 2020 despite the blow from the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns the decline was limited recording – 6.85% in the value of imports and -5.95% in the quantity.
The main suppliers of Greece on average in the last decade are Italy, Spain and Turkey, respectively. However, imports from Italy have fallen sharply in contrast to Spain and Turkey, which are on the rise. Statistics show that the average price per ton of Italian ceramic tiles is much higher and is constantly rising in contrast to Spain and Turkey, which are falling.
According to Eurostat statistics, Greece in 2020 was the thirteenth largest importer of Ceramic flags and paving, hearth or wall tiles among the 28 member states of the European Union.
