The internationalization of Italian businesses, particularly in the stone industry, is a driving force in today’s global economy. “Now more than ever, we must maintain a strong presence in key markets for our flagship products. Internationalization is one of the pillars of our development plan, ONE Veronafiere 2024-2026, and Marmomac is a reference brand for the entire Italian stone industry,” stated Adolfo Rebughini, General Director of Veronafiere. He highlighted that Marmomac’s expansion into new territories is a strategic move, bolstered by synergies with other trade platforms operated by Veronafiere in Brazil.

Starting in 2025, Marmomac Brazil will relocate to São Paulo, a critical hub not only for the stone industry in Central and South America but also as a gateway for new business opportunities in North America. This strategic shift reflects Marmomac’s growing focus on expanding its influence and capturing new markets beyond Italy.

According to a study conducted by Nomisma, demand for Italian stone products has seen a significant rise across the United States, with 37 of the 50 states increasing their imports over the past decade. By 2026, it is expected that over 62,000 U.S. hotels will utilize Italian marble, up from 59,600 in 2023 (based on data from Lodging Econometrics). This increase is poised to create substantial demand for natural stones, further strengthening Italy’s position as a leader in this sector.

The first half of 2024 has already seen the registration of 250 new hospitality structures, with over 60% of them positioned in the high-end and mid-high-end categories. In addition, more than 6,000 projects are currently underway, providing further opportunities for growth in the Italian stone industry.

Marmomac’s international strategy includes a key mission in Chicago, aimed at reinforcing its presence in North America. In collaboration with the Italian-American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, Veronafiere facilitated a meeting in May between a delegation of Italian companies and some of the most renowned architecture and interior design firms in North America. This initiative highlights Marmomac’s role not only as a business platform but also as a forum for industry professionals, encouraging the adoption and appreciation of natural stone.

In addition to its business focus, Marmomac serves as a stage for exhibitions, workshops, conferences, and debates. These events aim to explore new creative approaches and design languages related to stone, pushing the boundaries of what this timeless material can achieve in modern architecture and design.

As Marmomac continues to expand its reach across the globe, its dual focus on fostering international business connections and promoting the use of natural stone ensures it remains an essential player in the industry.
