With its focus set both on its rich heritage and on the challenges ahead for the industry, the 60th edition of Marmomac got underway yesterday in Verona. The leading international exhibition for natural stone, technology and design is celebrating 60 years of presence in the global stone industry.
This year’s event once again confirms Marmomac’s role as an international hub for trade and networking. The exhibition brings together 1,305 exhibiting companies from 54 countries, spread across 12 indoor halls and 8 outdoor areas. Every year, Marmomac welcomes professionals from more than 140 countries, alongside specialized trade delegations organized in cooperation with the ITA – Italian Trade Agency and with the support of Confindustria Marmomacchine.
From Technical Roots to Advanced Technology and Sustainability
As the organizers point out, the natural stone sector — with deep roots in traditional craftsmanship and technical expertise — has continued to evolve dynamically. Marmomac 2026 showcases the entire production chain, from extracted and processed materials to high-tech machinery, tools and contemporary design.
Particular emphasis is placed on the export-oriented character of Italian production and the strong presence of Made in Italy in international markets, while sustainability remains one of the key challenges facing the sector. The international dimension of the exhibition format now extends beyond Europe through events such as Marmomac Brazil and Cachoeiro Stone Fair in Latin America.
Cultural and Educational Initiatives
The new Hall 10 (Padiglione 10) was also at the centre of the first day, hosting the main cultural exhibition “THE BEDROCK – Leading the Future of Natural Stone.” The exhibition is curated by four prominent figures from the fields of architecture and design: Davide Fabio Colaci, Joseph Grima, Raffaello Galiotto and Giuseppe Fallacara.
The exhibition explores the role of natural stone in the future of design and architecture, connecting the material with contemporary creativity and the evolution of its applications.
At the same time, the Marmomac Academy maintains a strong presence at the event, with a focus on technical training and continuous professional education, reinforcing Marmomac’s role as a platform for knowledge exchange and professional development.
The 60th edition of Marmomac is not simply a look back at the history of the event, but also a starting point for the discussion around the future of natural stone and marble on a global scale.
As the exhibition continues through September 25, Verona remains at the centre of the international natural stone market, with this year’s edition connecting Marmomac’s six-decade history with the new directions shaping the sector.
