In the Table we observe the improvement of exports from May to September where, for the first time in the year, a marginal increase was recorded compared to 2019. However, in the shadow of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, exports fell.

Individually, between the decade 2019 – 2020, a decrease was recorded in the value of exports of marble blocks and slabs  -38.49% and in quantity -38.55%. In finished marble products the fall is smaller with -16.29% in value and -17.13% in quantity.

The main reason for the decline is the decline in exports to the US, China and India, which absorb more than 40% of Italian marble. However, it should be noted that the increase in exports to Saudi Arabia and Qatar has significantly reduced the overall decline.
