Portugal’s marble export growth: January to April 2020

Following our previous report on Portugal’s marble export growth in the first quarter of 2020, Stonenews.eu, after collecting, studying and editing the statistical data provided by the Eurostat, is presenting the country’s marble export growth in the first four months of 2020, compared with last year’s same period of time as well as the last four months of 2019, examining the value and the quantity of exports.

Portugal’s marble blocks and slabs exports from January to April 2020 were severely hit in comparison with last year’s same period of time, both in value and quantity of exports. The decrease was smaller, almost cut in half, after compared with the last four months of 2019, both in value and quantity of exports.

As for the country’s finished marble products exports in the first four months of 2020, although the export value showed a 15.84% decrease, the quantity of exports moved upwards by 12.08%, which means that Portugal exported finished marble products in much lower prices. Same picture after the comparison with the last four months of 2019, however with lower growth rates.

It is worth mentioning that, from January to April 2020, Portugal managed to export marble blocks and slabs of € 7.91 million worth and finished marble products of € 20.74 million worth.
