Specifically, between the first ten months of 2019 – 2020, a decrease of -20.66% was recorded in the total value of marble exports and in the total quantity -29.5% while in granite there was a decrease -5.17% in the total value of exports and in the total quantity an increase of +8.65 %.

Marble

Spain’s total marble exports in 2020 are improving but remain lower than in 2019.

In the Table we observe the declining trend of exports compared to 2019 with the exception of the increase in the value of exports in June due to the increase in exports of finished marble products to European countries.

Individually, between the first ten months of 2019 – 2020, a decrease was recorded in the value of exports of marble blocks and slabs -31.31% and in the quantity -33.23%. In finished marble products the fall is smaller with -15.94% in value and -23.03% in quantity.

Granite

The course of Spain’s granite exports between the first ten months of 2019 – 2020 is clearly better than marble.

In the Table we observe the decrease of exports in the critical months of the pandemic and the lockdown. The positive course of the ten months of 2020, is due to the increase in exports of raw granite compared to 2019 and the small decline in exports of processed marble. Specifically, between the ten months of 2019 – 2020, an increase was recorded in the exports of raw granite in the value of 9.59% and in the quantity 28.28%. Exports of processed granite fell -9.86% in value and -6.10% in quantity.
