The Board of he Greek Association of Marble Companies of Macedonia – Thrace, after the suggestion of the President Mrs. Ioulia Chaida and the Vice President Mr. Panos Iliopoulos, approved and implements the first step of an important project that aims to secure funds in the form of subsidies, either from the new package of 22.5 billion that will be drawn from the European Union or from the redistribution of unallocated amounts of the NSRF (National Strategic Reference Framework), focusing on efficient sectors that have been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Friday 12/06/2020 the Association commissioned ICAP to study the financial impact of the pandemic in marble industry and sectors related to it as suppliers, combining the special industry multipliers that have been calculated after the industry’s contribution study to the country’s GDP, which was presented to official entities during a special event in the city of Drama in February. The main subject of the new study is the assessment of the total losses due to the pandemic firstly in the Greek marble sector, secondly in the related sectors and lastly in the public revenues.
