The eighth edition of Vox Marmoris, the electronic music festival that uniquely blends nature, technology, and local tradition, has just come to a close. On July 25th and 26th, surrounded by a marble depot and a quarry nestled behind it, lights and sound transformed the landscape into a truly immersive experience—making the marble of Carrara sing.

This year, art took center stage, as the festival coincided with White Carrara, the historic event that connects marble and design, turning the city into a hub of contemporary culture and music.

Almost ten years ago, Vox Marmoris began as an informal party among friends in the marble depot of Alessandro Corsi, a prominent figure in Carrara’s marble industry. The idea was born from two local DJs, Giulio Corsi—Alessandro’s son—and Matteo Zarcone, who envisioned using marble as a natural amplifier for electronic music.

The idea was to use the material itself to amplify sound and make the quarry sing,” explains co-founder Zarcone. “And on the visual side, to project installations onto it in order to bring the marble to life.”

What began as a quiet experiment in the Apuan Alps, on the road to Colonnata, has since grown into a standout event in the national electronic music scene. In 2023, Vox Marmoris officially became a two-day festival, expanding beyond its original one-night format and building new cultural partnerships.

In a time when audiences are increasingly seeking authentic, site-specific experiences, Vox Marmoris stands out for its deep connection to the local landscape, its innovative use of marble as an interactive element, and its ability to unite different generations through music, art, and light.
