Matteo Venturi, president of the Apuan delegation of Confindustria Centro e Costa, emphasizes that a strong industrial policy is essential to boost Tuscany’s competitiveness and support local businesses.
Key priorities highlighted by Confindustria Toscana include the enhancement of Marina di Carrara’s port infrastructure, unlocking the new Port Master Plan, and improving rail and road connections, with particular focus on doubling the Pontremolese railway line. The local road network also requires both routine and extraordinary maintenance to ensure smooth and safe transport.
For the marble sector, the historic backbone of the Apuan economy, Venturi calls for a revision of the Regional Quarry Plan and Regional Law 35, currently considered too restrictive. The goal is to foster business growth, strengthen the international competitiveness of Apuan marble, and simplify bureaucratic procedures that currently slow down investment.
