Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, on Thursday chaired a meeting to review the Pakistan–Italy cooperation framework in the marble and granite sector.
According to an official news release, the meeting focused on enhancing bilateral collaboration to strengthen and modernize Pakistan’s marble and granite industry.
Khan emphasized that the partnership with Italy would introduce new dimensions to the sector by promoting the adoption of modern technology, advancing workforce skills, and expanding access to international markets.
He highlighted that land has already been allocated for the establishment of Marble City in Risalpur, which will serve as a central hub for innovation, processing, and exports.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Special Assistant noted that the Ministry of Industries and Production is fully dedicated to deepening cooperation with Italy. He added that, in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision, Pakistan seeks to elevate its marble sector to international standards through technological advancement and strategic global partnerships.
Khan further directed that the project be prioritized during the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) 2025, stressing that progress on the agreement holds significant importance for both nations.
He also instructed that a follow-up meeting be convened with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the timely implementation of the decisions taken.
