On July 23, during the Italy-Algeria Business Forum held in Rome and organized by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on the initiative of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Antonio Tajani, in collaboration with ICE Agency, a major agreement was signed between ICE Agency and Sonarem Ettakwine, the leading Algerian group in the extractive sector and a subsidiary of the national mining company Sonarem.

The agreement, signed by ICE President Matteo Zoppas, was developed with the support of Confindustria Marmomacchine and the Algerian federation FAMMIP (Fédération Algérienne des Minéraux du secteur Minier et l’Industrie de la Pierre), and provides for the creation of an Italian-Algerian Technological Training Center in Algeria, focused on marble and ornamental stone processing.

This strategic initiative aims to strengthen commercial relations and industrial cooperation between the two countries in the high-tech sector by promoting the transfer of Italian expertise, methodologies, and advanced production solutions.

The project is designed to support local industrial development through training activities and internships for technicians and operators, contributing to the creation of a modern and competitive supply chain.

The center will also serve as a platform for knowledge sharing and the launch of joint research, exploration, and valorization projects related to Italian and Algerian stone resources. It will promote the adoption of the most advanced Italian technologies and the development of both in-person and online technical training programs.

An initiative that once again confirms Italy’s leading role on the global stage in technologies for the extraction and processing of natural stone materials, while opening new and concrete prospects for industrial cooperation between Italy and Algeria.
