Dubai real estate developer Emaar Properties has launched a $6.8bn leisure and residential scheme, as well as ‘The Dubai Mall by the Sea’, at Mina Rashid – the home of Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) that is also known as Port Rashid – near Bur Dubai, Deira, and Dubai Creek in a bid to catalyse cruise tourism in the UAE emirate.
The Mina Rashid development by Emaar will feature 430 berths, which the developer said can cater to the world’s largest yachts.
Other features include ‘The Dubai Mall by the Sea’, a waterfront retail, dining, and leisure hub a floating yacht club a 1.26ha sandy beach and Dubai’s longest swimming pool.
Hotels, a private beach club, interconnected parks, a 500m-long palm tree-fringed canal, art galleries, a theatre, and a museum will also be developed within the project.
