Germany’s finished marble and granite imports in 2018

Germany is one of the biggest markets worldwide. Let’s find out what was the trend of finished marble and granite imports in 2018.

after studying the statistical results* of the International Trade Centre, the UN Comtrade and the National Statistical Institutes, is presenting Germany’s finished marble and granite imports in 2018 and the corresponding changes from 2017.

According to statistics, Germany is one of the top 5 largest importers of natural stones in the world and mostly of finished granite.  Finished marble imports are lower and have several fluctuations in recent years.

In 2018, there was a decrease in the quantity of imports of both finished granite and marble. In the following table we can see the finished marble and granite imports in 2018 and the corresponding changes from 2017.

As we can see in the table, the German market is dominated by finished granite while finished marble is significantly lower. Imports of finished granite had an increase in price per tonne in both HS codes while the ones of finished marble only in HS Code 680221.

680293: Granite, in any form, polished, decorated or otherwise worked (excluding tiles, cubes and similar articles of subheading 6802.10, imitation jewellery, clocks, lamps and lighting fittings and parts thereof, original sculptures and statuary, setts, curbstones and flagstones).
