Today marks the opening of Expo CIHAC 2024, one of Latin America’s most important trade shows for the construction, architecture, and interior design industries. Running from October 9 to 11 in Mexico City, this event is expected to draw thousands of professionals and exhibitors from across the globe, offering a platform for showcasing the latest innovations and trends in these sectors.
At last year’s edition, Expo CIHAC welcomed over 18,000 visitors and hosted more than 500 exhibitors, highlighting its significance as a premier event in the industry. This year’s edition promises to build on that success, continuing to offer insights and opportunities for collaboration across the construction and design fields.
Among the many features of this year’s Expo CIHAC, ICE-Agenzia, in collaboration with Confindustria Marmomacchine, has organized two collective pavilions for Italian companies specializing in natural stone and related machinery. These Italian participants are key players in the international market for both processed and semi-processed marble, granite, and natural stone, as well as machinery and technology for stone extraction and processing.
According to data from Confindustria Marmomacchine, Mexico increased its imports of Italian natural stone products by 12.3% in 2023, reaching nearly €20 million. This reflects the broader growth of the Mexican natural stone market, which totaled €155 million in imports, consisting mostly of processed and semi-processed materials. In the same year, Mexico also ranked among the top 20 markets for Italian machinery and technology exports, with total exports valued at €20.5 million.
Looking ahead, the first half of 2024 has already seen a 6.8% increase in exports of Italian technology for natural stone processing, bringing the value to €8 million. Mexico now ranks as the 14th most important destination for these Italian exports, emphasizing the strong trade relationship between the two countries in this sector.
Expo CIHAC 2024 provides a dynamic space for international collaborations and the exchange of ideas, particularly in innovative building techniques, sustainability, and cutting-edge technologies that are transforming the industry.
