Oman has opened two new mineral areas in North Sharqiyah for investment by local and international companies, running from December 28, 2025, to April 28, 2026. The sites, covering 2.55 sq km, include promising dark marble deposits, including a notable black marble deposit in Dima wa al Taien.

The Ministry of Energy and Minerals is promoting these opportunities through the Taqah digital platform, showcasing Oman’s building materials and mineral resources to investors worldwide.

Saud bin Khamis al Mahrouqi, Director General of Minerals, highlighted Omani marble as a success story in the mining sector, valued for its quality, colour diversity, and competitiveness in regional and international markets. The mineral is widely used in tiles, slabs, and decorative stones, with exports mainly to the GCC, India, and South Korea.

Oman currently operates over 15 active quarries and 11 integrated processing plants, producing more than 1 million tonnes annually, with plans to expand output to meet global demand. The ministry emphasizes domestic processing, limiting raw exports to boost the production of finished and semi-finished products, while adopting modern technologies and sustainable practices such as marble waste recycling.

With strategic programs, approved mining sites, and transparent bidding processes, Oman aims to offer competitive, high-value investment opportunities in the marble and mining sectors, leveraging its abundant resources and advanced processing capabilities.
