The Natural Stone Strategic Alliance (NSSA) held its first official meeting at Marmomac 2025 in Verona, marking a significant milestone for the global natural stone industry.
This new alliance brings together organizations from the founding countries – Brazil, United States, Italy, Greece, United Kingdom, and Portugal – as well as representatives from other countries, highlighting the expanded participation compared to the first informal meeting in 2024.
During the meeting, the main topics discussed included:

Approval of the NSSA statute,

Coordination of national EPDs and promotion of the Global EPD initiative,

Strengthening international cooperation and strategic alignment of the sector.
Brazil presented the platform developed by IFES, commissioned by Centrorochas and supported by Sindirochas and CETEMAG, which will serve as a foundation for all participants and contribute to the overall development of the sector.

The meeting confirmed NSSA’s trajectory and established the alliance as a central body for cooperation and promotion of natural stone worldwide, laying the groundwork for its official registration in the United States in 2026.
Background
The idea of NSSA was born at Marmomac 2024, when representatives of the founding countries gathered in a strategic meeting to promote international cooperation in sustainability and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD).
In May 2025, preparatory work continued in Orlando, Florida, where representatives of key associations worked on harmonizing EPDs, developing an international Product Category Rule (PCR), and drafting the NSSA statute.
These steps set the stage for the first official meeting at Marmomac 2025, which solidified NSSA’s path toward institutionalization and global operation.
