Volvo’s medium-duty truck range is being strengthened with the upgraded and robust Volvo FL 4×4, designed specifically for demanding off-road applications.

The Volvo FL model is known as a compact and agile medium-duty truck. Building on these characteristics, Volvo Trucks is now introducing the modified Volvo FL 4×4, suitable for environments where customers require enhanced off-road capability.

“We are seeing a clear trend of increasing demand for this type of truck from our customers,” says Jan Hjelmgren, Head of Product Management at Volvo Trucks.

“This compact, agile, and easy-to-handle 4×4 truck provides access to remote areas with challenging conditions – a robust vehicle designed with a clear purpose.”

The Volvo FL 4×4 features new front and rear axles as well as new axle ratios to support all-wheel drive. Combined with the rugged exterior, single tires, and generous ground clearance, the updated model is capable of handling the most demanding conditions, not only in construction, but also in rescue services, firefighting, energy and power supply, as well as military applications.

Cab options for the new model include both a day cab with two seats and a crew cab with space for six people. Specific optional equipment includes a winch, bullbar, headlight protection, and additional protection for the transfer case for extreme off-road driving.

The Volvo FL 4×4 is available with Volvo’s efficient 8-liter diesel engine, and customers can place orders through the Volvo Trucks sales network. Production begins in November 2025.
