Italy’s AMS Group Managing Director Alberto Visinoni, while looking for bilateral cooperation, has asked Pakistan’s industry to utilise the group’s mining machinery for mechanised mining and processing of marble and granite.
“The AMS Group is currently the world leader in the sale of overhauled used machinery for marble and granite processing and the purpose of this visit is to explore opportunities of transferring machinery to Pakistan,” Visinoni said while visiting the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).
He met here with ICCI’s Acting President Muhammad Naveed Malik and other office-bearers. He listed the group’s machinery which included lifting machines, frames, block cutters, calibrating machines, plate polishers, polishing lines, tile polishers, recycling and filtration plants, manual polishers, flag mills, bride saws, bevellers, quarry machines and various others.
He suggested that Pakistan could better promote its marble industry by utilising the group’s machinery.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik said Pakistan possessed huge reserves of marble and granite, but it was unable to achieve their complete benefit due to the lack of mechanised mining. He stressed that the AMS Group should bring its machinery to Pakistan by setting up its business in the country, which would help promote value-added products of marble and granite.
“The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has created plenty of new business and investment opportunities in Pakistan whereas the government is providing attractive incentives to foreign investors,” he said and asked Italian investors to consider forming joint ventures and investment in marble and other sectors of Pakistan.
He praised services of Italian Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo, saying he was making good efforts to promote bilateral trade and economic relations. Malik added that Pakistan and Italy had massive potential to enhance cooperation in livestock, energy, infrastructure, oil and gas, chemical, transportation management and other areas.
He urged both countries to focus on developing strong connectivity between their private sectors which would be instrumental in enhancing bilateral cooperation up to its real potential.
