Greece and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing bilateral economic relations, which currently stand at approximately €1.9 billion, during a roundtable discussion held at a central hotel in Athens. The meeting was attended by over ten Greek companies and featured Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, His Excellency Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef, and Greece’s Minister of Development, Takis Theodorikakos.
The discussion, part of the official visit of the Saudi minister to Greece, focused on expanding cooperation in strategic sectors, including energy, shipbuilding, agri-food, pharmaceuticals, construction, and, notably, raw materials and mineral resources—a sector of increasing importance to both economies.
Minister Alkhorayef emphasized that the governments of both countries are “developing joint initiatives to strengthen cooperation and facilitate business relations,” highlighting that companies should understand Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the opportunities it presents in industry and resource development.
He noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is strategically investing in the expansion of its mining and mineral base, seeking synergies with countries like Greece that have industrial expertise and technical know-how. Greek companies in construction, building materials, energy, and mining have expressed strong interest in participating in infrastructure projects, industrial investments, and raw material processing initiatives aligned with Saudi Arabia’s economic transformation.
Minister Theodorikakos underlined that Greece can serve as a hub for cooperation and technological expertise in the Eastern Mediterranean, highlighting the role of Greek enterprises in minerals, industrial materials, and manufacturing.
Both ministers stressed the strong interest from the private sector in expanding trade and investment partnerships that will enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of key productive sectors in both countries.
The official visit of H.E. Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef to Greece marks a new chapter in Greek-Saudi relations, reinforcing strategic collaboration in areas directly linked to industry, raw materials, and mineral resources, which form the foundation of sustainable economic growth.
