The renowned Vox Marmoris festival is set to return for its ninth edition on July 24 and 25, 2026, solidifying its place as one of the most evocative and iconic events on the Italian art and music scene. For two consecutive nights, the imposing industrial setting of the “Successori Adolfo Corsi” Marble Depot in Colonnata, nestled among the historic marble quarries of Carrara, will transform into an immersive ecosystem where ancient stone directly dialogues with cutting-edge technology.
The Intersection of Matter and Light: A Living Architecture
The defining feature of Vox Marmoris lies in its ability to blend industrial archaeology and the monumental scale of the location with advanced lighting systems and site-specific audiovisual installations. Through the clever use of video mapping, lasers, light installations, and video projections, the marble surfaces will come alive, turning the depot into a living, breathing architecture in a state of constant perceptual transformation.
In this context, the visual arts do not act as a mere backdrop but are structurally fused with the sonic performances. This year’s immersive environments feature collaborations with major names in visual design: Brasko, a visual artist, director, and stage designer known for exploring chaos and perceptual instability, and the studio House Of North, a multidisciplinary collective operating at the intersection of art, engineering, design, and storytelling to build complex systems.
Demonstrating its strong commitment to contemporary art, the festival has opened a call for digital artists and creatives. Selected works will be projected directly onto the majestic marble walls of the depot during the festival nights, inviting the audience into a real-time, open-air digital art gallery.
An International Electronic Line-Up
The event’s soundscape will be curated by a selection of internationally acclaimed artists alongside local talents, spanning techno, electroclash, house, and experimental sounds:
-
Modeselektor: The historic and revolutionary Berlin duo, famous for their ability to deconstruct and merge techno, bass music, and sonic experimentation.
-
Kittin: An undisputed icon of electroclash and European club culture, ready to bring her magnetic sound to the heart of the quarries.
-
Gerd Janson and Antal: Leading figures in the global house and electronic scene, masters of weaving eclectic musical textures.
-
Local Talents & Residents: The line-up is rounded out by performances from Monile, Linda Shiro, Matteo Zarcone aka ZEE, and The Quarrier (Giulio Corsi), a Tuscan producer and pivotal figure since the festival’s inception in defining its underground sonic identity.
The DJ sets and live performances will trigger real-time variations in the video installations, ensuring a unique multi-sensory experience where every fraction of a second redefines the surrounding space.
