Italian companies continue to deepen their footprint in the United Arab Emirates, especially in the construction materials sector, where marble and natural stone remain internationally recognised strengths. The quality, reliability, and innovation that define both Italian stone products and Italian construction equipment were highlighted by Lorenzo Fanara, Italy’s Ambassador to the UAE, during Big 5 Global 2025 in Dubai. Fanara emphasised the solidity of the Italy–UAE partnership—a collaboration that finds one of its clearest expressions in major construction projects and in the supply of premium materials.

According to Valerio Soldani, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE, trade between the two countries experienced remarkable growth over the past year. Italian exports reached €7.8 billion, with projections expecting them to rise to €9 billion by 2025. This increase is driven in part by the UAE’s demand for Italian materials and solutions as the country embarks on major sustainable urban projects.

Today, the UAE accounts for 25% of all “megaprojects” in the Gulf region—an immense concentration of development requiring cutting-edge technology and top-quality materials, areas in which the Italian stone industry has excelled for decades. At this year’s exhibition, Italian companies are presenting innovations ranging from energy-efficient technologies to solutions for residential construction, as well as design products that combine sustainability with the finest craftsmanship.

The two Italian pavilions offer a clear representation of the national production model: a blend of industrial heritage and contemporary design. Alongside state-of-the-art construction machinery used worldwide, a wide array of Italian marble and stone products stands out—materials that continue to set global standards of beauty and performance. Italy’s stone and marble sector alone is valued at more than €15 billion and employs over 50,000 people, with more than 60% of its output exported worldwide. It is a dynamic, competitive industry ready to meet the needs of highly specialised projects throughout the Gulf.

Soldani stressed that Italian companies at the exhibition are well-prepared to support large-scale developments in the region, offering a combination of craftsmanship, innovation, and tailored solutions aligned with today’s market priorities.

The collaboration between Italy and the UAE goes beyond commerce: it represents a shared commitment to sustainable development, driven by expertise, high-quality materials, and a forward-looking vision. Italian marble and natural stone—symbols of excellence and durability—continue to play a central role in this evolving story of mutual growth.
