Komatsu is pleased to announce the availability of the latest addition to its range of electric products, the PC20E-6. Designed to meet the demands of a full working day, the Komatsu PC20E-6 is ideal for both traditional construction site applications and noise-sensitive or indoor environments where zero emissions are required.

The design goal was to provide a machine that meets the demands of a full workday on site while remaining as economical as possible.

Peace of mind with Komatsu E-Support

The mini excavator, with a power output of 11.8 kW, a battery capacity of 23.2 kWh, and an operating weight of 2,190 kg, features a drivetrain system developed specifically by Komatsu in Europe. This not only ensures a significant advantage through extensive quality control options but also includes a dedicated warranty for Komatsu’s electric components. The machine also comes with Komatsu’s “E-Support” customer care program, developed specifically for owners of Komatsu electric mini excavators. The program consists of three elements:

  • Scheduled factory-backed, free maintenance by a Komatsu-trained technician using genuine Komatsu parts.

  • 3-year / 2,000-hour warranty for the machine.

  • 5-year / 10,000-hour parts warranty for the high-quality components of the electric drivetrain.

“The Komatsu E-Support customer care program is provided free of charge with every electric mini excavator and offers dedicated support for the machine,” adds Emanuele Viel, Group Manager Utility at Komatsu Europe.

Overall, the end customer enjoys significantly reduced risk, especially when it comes to adopting the latest electrification developments in the industry.

Reliable performance through data analysis

Many data-based findings from Komatsu have been integrated into the development of the machine.

Komatsu’s fleet management system, Komtrax, was used to analyze 40,000 working days of mini excavators of similar size. The result: 90% of mini excavators operate less than 3.5 hours per day. This set the target for the required and reliable operating time of the excavator. Thanks to this, Komatsu can offer a machine at an attractive price, delivering performance that precisely matches customer needs.

Depending on the operating mode, the PC20E-6 offers an autonomy of approximately:

  • 3:20 hours (P mode)

  • 3:40 hours (E0 mode)

  • 4:00 hours (E1 mode)

Thanks to various charging solutions adapted to different conditions, the machine can also be charged flexibly, e.g. via fast charging during a lunch break. The PC20E-6 already operates on a high-voltage 77V system. Standard equipment includes an integrated 230V charging option with 3kW power, compatible with various adapters, as well as an optional external 400V DC fast charger with 12kW output (available from October 2025).

Komatsu’s extensive data analysis, including insights from its electric forklifts in Japan, suggests a battery life of around 10 years, assuming daily charging and discharging during operations.

Efficient and sustainable operation

The machine is also attractive due to its simplified daily maintenance. Compared to the conventional PC20 with an internal combustion engine, certain daily maintenance tasks before operation are no longer necessary. There is no need to check:

  • the dust indicator

  • the water separator, water and sediment drainage

  • water and sediment drainage from the fuel tank

  • coolant level and top-ups

  • oil level and top-ups

The concept of this innovative machine also includes the use of ID keys as standard. Each machine is delivered with one registration key and three operator keys. One machine can register up to 255 operator keys, while one operator key can be used for an unlimited number of machines across all models. This provides another way to save resources and increase efficiency in daily operations.

In addition, the PC20E-6 contributes to reducing the company’s ecological footprint, with a recycling rate of 99% of its total weight. This makes it the ideal solution for tenders requiring zero local emissions, as well as for operations indoors or in noise-sensitive areas.
