India’s marble, granite and ceramics exports in the first trimester of 2021

India during the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020 managed to increase the value of exports compared to 2019, in ceramics by + 17.56% and granites by + 2.35% while on the contrary in marbles fell by -6.77%. In the first three months of 2021 the reduction of COVID-19 cases gave a boost to Indian industries leading to an increase in exports compared to the first trimester of 2020.

The table below shows the changes (%) in the value and quantity of India’s total exports of marble, granite and ceramics between the first three months of 2020-2021 and the last trimester of 2020 and the first trimester of 2021:

India is the largest exporter of granite in the world. In ceramics, the rapid growth of exports in recent years has led it to the fourth place among the leading suppliers worldwide. Marble exports are much lower than for granites and ceramics.

The main destination of India’s granite exports is China, the USA. and Vietnam. In ceramics are Saudi Arabia, the USA and the United Arab Emirates. In marbles, is mainly the USA.
