*Marble Products

In the total exports of marble products, the downward trend continues with the value of exports of the 1st three months of 2021 being the lowest of the last five years. The table below shows the changes (%) in the value and quantity of total exports of Italian marble products between the first trimesters of 2020 – 2021 and the last trimester of 2020 and the first trimester of 2021:

The decline between the first three months of  2020 – 2021 in total exports of marble products is due to the decrease in exports of finished marble products to the USA and Saudi Arabia. The increase in exports of marble blocks and slabs to China limited the overall decline.

Exports between the last trimester of 2020 and the first trimester of 2021 were negatively affected by the decline in exports to the USA, China, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

*Finished Granites

Exports of finished granite products have been falling steadily in recent years. However, the value of exports in the first trimester of 2021 is the highest in the last four years. The table below shows the changes (%) in the value and quantity of Italy’s finished granite exports between the first trimesters of 2020 – 2021 and the last three months of 2020 and the first trimester of 2021:

The increase between the first trimesters of 2020 – 2021 is due to the increase in exports of finished granite to European countries and specifically to Germany, Switzerland, France, Austria and Poland.

Exports between the last trimester of 2020 and the first trimester of 2021 were negatively affected by the decline in exports to Germany and the USA.

*Ceramics

Ceramic exports were less affected by the pandemic with the value of exports in the first three months of 2021 being the highest in the last five years. The table below shows the changes (%) in the value and quantity of Italian ceramic exports between the first trimester of 2020 – 2021 and the last trimester of 2020 and the first three months of 2021:

In the Table we observe the continuous rise of Italian ceramics due to the increase of exports to European countries and specifically to France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
