Spain is one of the largest Marble Blocks & Slabs exporters in the world. However, there has been a decline in exports during the last years which continued in 2017.
Το Stonenews.eu, following their research on the statistic reports of the International Trade Centre and the National Statistical Institutes, is presenting Spain’s marble exports growth during 2016 – 2017 as well as the shares in value and quantity in 2017.
When it comes for Marble Blocks & Slabs exports value globally, Spain is ranked fourth, among the largest export forces, while it is third when it comes for quantity. However, during the last years there has been a constant decline both in value and quantity, reducing at the same time the price per ton. More specifically, between 2013 and 2017 the price per ton was reduced for 25,3% while the value was reduced for 57,3% and the quantity for 42,89%. The decline is due to the major drop of exports to the most important destinations of Spanish Marble Blocks & Slabs, except China: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
The table below shows the ten leading destinations of Spain’s Marble Blocks & Slabs according to import value shares of 2017.
As shown at the table above, the only country that Spain exported Marble Blocks & Slabs to between 2016 and 2017 with higher rice per ton is Morocco for 5,71%. On the contrary, the exports with lower price per ton were to Italy for -12,74%, to Egypt for -7,98%, to Saudi Arabia for -7,46%, to Colombia for -6,98%, to Qatar for -4,13%, to France for -4,07%, to United Arab Emirates for -3,4%, to Lebanon for -2,75% and to China for -1,79%.
In 2017, Spain exported Marble Blocks & Slabs to 97 countries. 55,4% of the export total value was on HS Code 251511*, 40,5% on 251512* code and the rest 4,1% on code 251520*.
